The process for cleaning grave markers is very easy thanks to Marblelife Care Products and their simple instructions. Before you begin, first make sure to get permission from the cemetery or the family of the veteran to clean the grave marker. At our designated locations this has already been done.
First make sure to have the following supplies. Once at the cemetery locate the veteran’s grave marker or that of a specific Veteran. The process can take from 5 minutes to a half hour per marker depending on the severity of the markers condition and the degree of detail you put into it.
Supplies Needed:
- Marblelife InterCare Cleaner 32oz spray bottle
- Marblelife Mold & Mildew Stain Remover 32oz spray bottle
- Gallon jug for rinsing water (water usually available from spigots in site)
- Scrub brush (any hand sized brush should work)
- Toothbrush (for cleaning inside engravings)
- Plastic Scraper (for removing heavy debris)
- Hand towel (for yourself)
- 5 Gallon Pail (to carry your supplies and to sit on while working)
- Printed instruction sheet
Step 1 Cleaning
If the marker is covered with a heavy layer mold, moss and alike, first liberally spray the marker with Marblelife Marble & Travertine “InterCare” Cleaner and scrap off debris with a plastic scraper to remove the heavy stuff then rinse with water.
Liberally spray marker with Marblelife’s Marble & Travertine “InterCare” Cleaner and scrub with scrub brush to release the heavy debris on the marker. Once toughly scrubbed and applying more InterCare Cleaner as needed, rinse with water. Repeat if needed to remove initial layer of debris.
Step 2 Remove Mold Stains
Spray marker liberally with Marblelife Mold & Mildew Stain Remover and scrub off mold stains. Reapply Mold & Mildew Stain Remover as needed and scrub until desired results are achieved then rinse with water. Older marble or granite markers may have mold stains that become severe and will remain somewhat visible by this simple cleaning process. Mold & Mildew Stain Remover does have a bleaching effect to fabrics so use caution to not stain you clothing and avoid contact with eyes while spraying.
Step 3 Cleaning The Engravings
To clean in the engravings spray additional Mold & Mildew Stain Remover into the engravings, then scrub inside the engravings with a toothbrush or small brush until the desired results are reached. Rinse with water when done or as needed.
When done be sure to collect all supplies and do not leave any trash or anything else behind.
